The First Unitarian Society of Madison presents an annual series of concerts held on six consecutive Friday evenings in June and July. A creation of ellsworth synder -- pianist, teacher, artist, and until 2001 FUS music director, the series takes place in the beautiful and historic (but not air-conditioned) Meeting House, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.
Despite the heat, the concerts generally attract a capacity audience. The programming is often adventuresome, with a major emphasis on contemporary music. The quality of the performances ranges from middling to excellent.
